Review on Advanced Control Technologies for Bidirectional DC/DC Converters in DC Microgrids

DC microgrids encounter the challenges of constant power loads (CPLs) and pulsed (PPLs), which impose requirements fast dynamics, large stability margin, high robustness that cannot be easily addressed by conventional linear control methods. This necessitates implementation advanced technologies in order to significantly improve robustness, dynamic performance, flexibility system. article presents an overview for bidirectional dc/dc converters dc microgrids. First, issue caused CPLs balance PPLs are discussed, motivate utilization addressing these issues. Next, typical including model predictive control, backstepping sliding-mode passivity-based disturbance estimation techniques, intelligent nonlinear modeling approaches reviewed. Then applications presented stabilization accommodation PPLs. Finally, techniques explored other high-gain nonisolated (e.g., interleaved, multilevel, cascaded) isolated dual active bridge) high-power applications.
